Holiday in the 3 Guyanas

Rich from tasting a rum specially for men in Paramaribo

During my 4 months of holiday in South America, traveling by myself,  I decided to book my last trip to the 3 Guianas at Pejego Tours.   It’s a custom-made trip, so the only thing I need to do is show up and pay of course! The communication between us prior to the trip was excellent. I think the activities chosen were very good per my interests. The guides were great and made sure that I was comfortable and informed of any changes. All three guides in the 3 Guyanas were quality people, considerate, and enjoyable to be with especially as I was alone.

My field trips & highlights

Harpy eagle bird seen in Kabalebo Resort in Suriname

In Suriname, I went to Kabalebo Resort – absolutely recommended! The aspect of being in the middle of the jungle with not many people is very appealing to me. Saw many birds, and a decent amount of mammals. Also had a few good hikes (although short), the food was very good and the atmosphere of the resort was terrific. Inspiration Point was a great place to sleep.

pink dolphin in Suriname

Also in Suriname, I made a last-minute Night adventure trip, spotting Green Sea turtles laying eggs on Braamspunt Beach!  It’s a unique experience to witness this and not too far from Paramaribo! We were very lucky and also spotted pink River Dolphins named ‘Profusu or Guiana dolphins’.

Kaieteur falls in Guyana

In Guyana, I would absolutely recommend, Kaieteur Waterfalls. The trip was quick but worth it. The falls are just spectacular!

Also in Guyana, I visited Sloth Island. Not a must-see, but worth it as something else to do in Guyana besides Kaieteur Falls. It was enjoyable in a simple way, the hosts were excellent! A good diversion for 1.5-2 days away from Georgetown.

French Guiana

devils Island in French Guiana South America

Devils Island or Isles du Salut, was also interesting and a highlight of my trip! I read the book about Papillion and being on an island far from land, in the Atlantic ocean chances are very small that you can survive if you fled!

Must do’s

The 4-day trip to Kabalebo Resort, Spotting Sea Turtles at Braamspunt at night, and visiting Kaieteur Waterfalls were the highlights for me and places I would strongly encourage visitors to see! Going on holiday to the 3 Guyanas was a New and different experience for me!
