The guide who also was the cook allowed him in the kitchen and he helped to prepare Surinamese vegetarian cuisine. A program was set before but on the spot, it changed because Alex wanted to have time alone to meditate!

Is Suriname safe?

Yes, it is! Suriname and especially Paramaribo is a really relaxed place. However, it is important for you to use common sense when traveling alone. Make sure not to walk into rough areas at night and think about where you keep your wallet. And if you go to the center of Paramaribo in the evening it would be wise to take a taxi for a couple of SRD’s. This way you will not be wandering around by yourself.

Even if you are traveling alone the program will be sorted out beforehand. That’s why you will often find yourself in the company of other people, the guides, and other travelers during a group excursion. This makes it all the more fun!
