A 5 day ‘back to basic’ trip to the Kasikasima mountain

Program for the back to basic Kasikasima mountain climbing trip

The adventurous expedition is ideal for outdoor lovers and for families with teens!

Day 1: In the morning you will arrive at the airport Zorg en Hoop in Paramaribo at 10.00 o’clock with a taxi (at your own expense). Around 11.00 o’clock you will fly approximately 2 hours from Paramaribo to Palumeu Jungle lodge located on the Tapanahony river. You will sleep in this lodge on day 1 and 4.

Day 2 and 3: Today you will sail on the river and the guide will tell you about the flora and fauna in the rainforest while heading up for two days through the jungle, along rapids at the foot of the mysterious Kasikasima Mountains. You will sleep in a hammock camp Kamakabari in open hut with a primitive toilet. From the base camp, beautifully situated at the foot of the mighty rapids Sawaniboto, you will walk to one of the peaks of the Kasikasima Mountain. The intensive climb is rewarded with a breath-taking view of the pristine Amazon rainforest. 

Day 4: You will sail back to the Lodge. During the sailing, there will be a good chance that you will encounter monkeys and birds that live in the Amazon rainforest. 

Day 5: In the morning you will visit the village Palemeu that is nearby the lodge where the Trio and Wajana Indians live. Here you will get an idea of how the Amerindians are living in there traditional habitat. Try to shoot with the ‘bow and arrow’ traditional hunting tool (not included in the program price). You can also support local art and buy their handmade souvenirs. After lunch, you will say goodbye to Palemeu and fly back to Paramaribo. At Zorg en Hoop Airport you can take a taxi back to your hotel at your own expense.
