You then drive through the hectic traffic of Par’bo (as the Surinamese say). On the market, this enthusiastic guide explains to you all about the local herbs, the various types of vegetables, and the sweet tropical fruit. The guide will take you for a tour of a number of highlights of Paramaribo.

Suriname is a melting pot of cultures and religions!

Since 2002, the historic center of the city is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. In the Keizerstraat you walk past a mosque and synagogue who peacefully standing beside each other.  The experienced local guide will tell you all kinds of special facts about historic buildings. You will visit the wooden Basilica and if you are lucky you can go inside if it is open to admire the cedar wood interior. Walk on the Independence Square that’s in front of the Presidential Palace and take a nice breeze of the Suriname River on Fort Zeelandia. The rich history of Suriname comes to life during this excursion.

Around 13.00 you are back at the meeting point and you go back to your hotel. For lunch and dinner, you dive into the center, plenty of choices! This trip will take about 3-4 hours. This excursion is a join-in, meaning this trip will be done together with other international travelers.
