Night adventure spotting Sea Turtles near Paramaribo
Watch sea turtles come out of the Atlantic Ocean, dig a hole and lay their eggs at Braamspunt beach during this guided day excursion. While walking on the beach during the pitch-black night, you can clearly see the stars. This is a unique experience during our night adventure near Paramaribo! A perfect day trip for everyone, including teenagers.

Program of your turtle night spotting adventure
in this case while coming to seashore to lay eggs. WeBy boat, we sail on the Suriname and Commewijne River. Along the way, we will encounter numerous coastal birds resting in the mangrove. Like the different herons, stalks, the American frigate, and seagulls. If you are lucky you can also spot pink dolphins in their natural habitat! The turtles will come on the beach to lay their eggs. Please follow the instructions of the guide. If the turtle is disturbed she will go back to the sea and lay her eggs in the water instead of the beach.
The 4 sea turtles that occur in Suriname are:
- Warana (Olive ridley)
- The Karet (Hawksbill)
- Krape, Green sea turtle (Green sea turtle, soup turtle)
- Giant Leader Turtle, called Aitkanti (Leatherback).
Note: Sea turtle egg-laying season is from February to August.
This trip is a night adventure! you will sail on a boat and can get wet!
Meeting point: will be given 1 day before the trip starts.
Time: Departure 17.00 and will be back around 20.00-24.00 depending on the turtles we encounter on the beach.
With a minimum of 4 persons, we can organize a trip every day.
If less than 4 persons, we usually have trips on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
Price for private trips on request.
Sustainable: We believe the best way to see sea turtles is in their natural habitat and in our case while coming to shore to lay their eggs. While on the beach waiting and spotting the turtles we have to comply with the strict rules from WWF. Our guides will explain them to you when you are there.
